Going, Going, Gone

When I saw that homerun by Matt Holliday in the All Star Game, I could only think of one thing... He is applying for another job. No doubt scouts are hot on his tail for when his contract ends in two years. No doubt he will make a pretty penny when that day comes. As a die hard Rockies fan, I don't ever want him to go, but I know the Rockies could never front the bill to keep him in Denver.

That homerun was a big step towards his eventual departure. All I can say is, good for him. He deserves it. I wish him well. Perhaps he'll decide to stay in Denver. But Matt, if you don't, just remember us little guys, the fly-over city, as you celebrate all of your many victories.

"Benjamin is a talented illustrator and insightful cartoonist, too. A great member of the Colorado Alliance of Illustrators for many years now, in addition to producing beautiful children's books and paintings with also extremely multi-talented wife Cherish. "Benjamin Hummel possesses the single most important characteristic required of an editorial cartoonist: a passion for the issues. His point of view is never in doubt. When you add a sense of humor, a feel for irony and fine-tuned art skills, you have here a cartoonist worth your attention."

--Mike Keefe, Denver Post Cartoonist

"Finally, an editorial cartoonist who leans right, lives his faith, sees the funny side of politics, and can draw. Conservatives are going to like Ben's pen."
